Gail Crane is the wind beneath the artist’s wings.   As manager of Jon Crane Watercolors and Jon’s wife, she oversees the operations of the office and makes sure that things run as smoothly as possible.  Being married to and managing an artist can sometimes be challenging, but she loves the job.  Jon gets great satisfaction in knowing that people  find peace and enjoyment in his work, and Gail gets pleasure in helping people to do so.  She travels with Jon, and may not always be in the office, but can always be contacted by email at

Every now and then the phone may be answered by Jon.  The staff prefers to keep Jon out of the office and painting in his studio where he can do no harm.  If you happen to get him on the phone, please be patient, as he is not very familiar with our computer programs, and doesn’t know where most things are, but will do his best to take care of you.  If you would like to contact him personally, his email address is

If you need to find a gallery carrying Jon’s art, or just have a question, we are here to help you.  During most of the year you’ll find someone in the office on weekdays from 9-5 (Mountain Time).  From January to April the office is staffed by Angela, who answers the phone or returns missed calls and takes care of general business needs.  Jon and Gail usually get away to Baja during this time, but they can normally be reached by email wherever they are.  For a glance at our travel fun, go to .   This is actually Jon’s most productive time of the year, and a time for Gail, the sun-loving former Texan, to enjoy warmer weather.

Dan Hunter is the Wholesale Assistant here, where he manages all order fulfillment, customer service, and inventory issues.  Dan and his wife, Stephanie, have four boys and moved to the Black Hills after 24 years in the Air Force.  Dan enjoys spending time playing guitar, woodworking, and exploring the Black Hills with his family and dog ,Tango.  The best way to reach him is through the email ( or phone (888-948-1948) on Tuesdays or Thursdays in Hill City.
